Bakery giant Greggs has opened its latest store in the area inside Newcastle Central Station, creating 15 new jobs.

The company opened the new store at Unit 9 of the station, making it the 33rd Greggs in the Newcastle area since the company’s very first store opened in Gosforth in 1951.

The Newcastle boutique opens with an outdoor seating area, allowing for socially distant dining.

The store is one of 100 new stores that Tyneside Bakery turned into a take-out chain will open during 2021, despite the pandemic hit.

The company had suspended its expansion program at the start of the Covid-19 outbreak, which also resulted in the temporary closure of all of its stores, but is now ramping up store openings across the UK.

Last week he opened a new store in Prudhoe’s new Tyneview retail park, creating 16 new jobs.

The opening hours of the new boutique are Monday to Saturday from 6.30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 7.30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
