Somerset records 145 more coronavirus cases in just 24 hours Bath City News

There have been 145 more cases of the coronavirus recorded in Somerset in the past 24 hours.

The latest data from Public Health England shows there are now 40,386 positive covid test results since the pandemic began in March of last year.

The biggest one-day increase locally was in Bath and northeast Somerset, where there were 53 confirmed cases of the coronavirus today.

The smallest increase was in Mendip where there were only nine new cases of the coronavirus.

There have been 16,703 confirmed positive coronavirus tests across the UK today, bringing the total number of infections since the start of the pandemic to 4,684,572.

Across the UK, another 21 people also died within 28 days of receiving a positive coronavirus test result.

The UK death toll now stands at 128,048.

There have been no new deaths in Somerset.

Bath and North East Somerset: 8,828 (+53)
Mendip: 3,576 (+9)
Somerset North: 10,576 (+29)
Sedgemoor: 5,645 (+23)
Somerset West and Taunton: 6,179 (+20)
Somerset South: 5,582 (+11)

The number of deaths within 28 days of a positive test result in each area since the start of the pandemic is recorded below, with new deaths and deaths removed from the total after past data revisions, in parentheses.
