Man jailed for sex offenses against child in Brighton Brighton News

A PEDOPHILE who sexually exploited a 13-year-old girl from Brighton has been jailed for 11 years and three months.

Kerien Rudland met his victim on the Internet, it was there that he treated her.

They met in Brighton on Sunday 10 February 2019. He had sex with her on Brighton beach and on a train with her on the way back to London.

The girl was reported missing by her family, and when police checked her PlayStation, they found recent contact between her and Rudland on Facebook.

He had pleaded guilty at Brighton Crown Court on November 27, 2019, to inducing a child to engage in sexual activity, to meeting a child following sexual grooming and to two counts of s ” engaging in sexual activity with a child.

The 24-year-old, from Eltham in London, has also been jailed for separately trying to meet a girl for sexual purposes. He was sentenced at Chichester Crown Court on June 25.

Rudland will be a registered sex offender for life and has received a Sexual Injury Prevention Order (SHPO).

This will severely restrict his access to children and computers until further court orders.

Detective Sergeant Matt Stevens said: ‘As a result of our intensive investigations, together with our colleagues from the Metropolitan Police, they were in London at his mother’s address where he lived at 11 a.m. the next morning. , and he was arrested.

“The girl was safe and has since received support from our specialist agents and independent agencies.

“We have also received invaluable assistance from the Humberside Police and the UK Transport Police.

“Kerien Rudland is, without a doubt, a grave danger to children. He began his online delinquency, progressing rapidly to come into contact with a sexual offense with a child.

“The Sussex Police Safeguard Investigation Units work tirelessly to protect children, prosecute offenders and enable them to be removed from society.”

He pleaded not guilty to two kidnapping and sexual assault offenses, and these were filed in court without further action.
