Somerset records 112 more coronavirus cases in 24 hours Bath City News

There have been 112 more cases of the coronavirus recorded in Somerset in the past 24 hours.

The latest data from Public Health England released today (Saturday, June 26) shows that there are now 40,652 positive Covid test results in the county since the pandemic started in March of last year.

The largest single-day increase in the past 24 hours was in North Somerset, where there were 36 more positive cases.

The smallest increases were recorded in Sedgemoor and South Somerset, which each had 11 cases.

Nationally, as of 9 a.m. today, 18,270 more positive coronavirus cases have been recorded across the UK.

This means that a total of 4,717,811 people have contracted the virus since the start of the pandemic last March.

The government said in the UK another 23 people died within 28 days of receiving a positive result for the coronavirus.

This means that the death toll now stands at 128,089.

A total of 44,078,244 people across the country have now received their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while 32,244,223 people have received both vaccines.

No new deaths have been recorded in Somerset.
