Somerset Covid at latest as 104 new cases reported in 24 hours Bath City News

Another 104 cases of coronavirus have been reported in Somerset in the past 24 hours.

The latest data from Public Health England released today (Sunday, June 27) shows that the number of positive Covid test results in the county since the start of the pandemic in March of last year has now reached 40,756.

The largest single-day increase in the past 24 hours was in North Somerset, where there were 32 more positive cases.

The smallest increase was recorded in Somerset West and Taunton, which had seven cases.

However, Public Health England warned that today’s actual figures may be higher than published, explaining: “Due to a technical issue, there has been a delay in processing a subset of case data in England yesterday. This means the reported number of cases would be lower than expected. Pending cases will be reported in the next update.

As of 9 a.m. on Sunday, there had been 14,876 more laboratory-confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the UK, the government said.

He added that 11 more people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 on Sunday, bringing the UK total to 128,100.

Separate figures released by the Office for National Statistics show that there have been 153,000 registered deaths in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

Government data up to June 26 shows that of the 76,774,990 Covid injections administered in the UK so far, 44,314,799 were first doses – an increase of 234,441 the day before.

Some 32,460,191 were second doses, an increase of 199,505.

No new deaths have been recorded in Somerset.

The number of positive test results in each area since the start of the pandemic is recorded below, with the new positive test results in parentheses:
