Andy Murray: Fans rejoice as Wimbledon star shows steel in epic victory – “Courage!” | United Kingdom | New UK News

The Scotsman in combat dug deep to win an exciting contest after falling 2-1 behind his determined opponent, ranked 151st in the world. The past two years have not been easy for the three-time Grand Slam champion. The 34-year-old tennis star was beset with injuries and had to undergo two major right hip operations, the first in 2018.

His comeback was plagued by other misadventures which at one point threatened to exclude him from Wimbledon.

Ahead of the Australian Open in February, he contracted Covid-19 and, just before the Miami Open in March, the Scotsman suffered an “abnormal” groin injury.

However, Murray put all the adversity behind him to secure a place in the third round at SW19.

It wasn’t long before fans took to social media to praise his victory and his determination to overcome all obstacles.

One wrote: “What an absolute legend. Guts and a competitive instinct.

“That’s why he did everything he did to come back to this stage once again.”

While another tweeted: “Scotland beat Germany 3-2 at Wimbledon.”
