Person taken to hospital after falling from top of cliff in South Shields UK News

One person was taken to hospital after falling off a cliff in South Shields.

The Sunderland Coast Guard Rescue Team received a call to assist Northumbria Police with an incident near Trow Rock, South Shields at around 2:40 p.m. Monday.

The Coast Guard confirmed on social media that a person fell from the top of a cliff.

Rescuers walked towards the person using rope rescue equipment.

One of the officers, who is a paramedic, began treating the victim.

Rescue teams from Tynemouth Rescue Station and a second team of Coast Guard rescue officers also arrived at the scene.

The second team of officers was stationed at the base of the cliff alongside the HART team from the North East Ambulance Service.

A Coast Guard helicopter arrived at the scene and took the victim to the top of the cliff.

After further treatment by paramedics and the Great North Air Ambulance team, the victim was transferred to hospital by ambulance.
