England fans will pitch for £ 1.2million worth of beer in the Euro 2020 semi-final in England tonight, experts have predicted.
More than 6.8 million pints of beer will be purchased during the game, according to the British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA), of which more than 5% are estimated to be thrown away in celebration or frustration.
With the average pint costing £ 3.69, the overall value stands at £ 1,291,500, or around six weeks’ salary for England captain Harry Kane.
Financial experts Raisin UK, who made the prediction, said 350,000 pints should be pitched, but the figure will rise to 50,000 per goal scored.
This means that more than half a million pints could fly through the air if the England team recreated all four goals scored in the quarter-final against Ukraine.
The England squad were seen spending the night at The Grove hotel on the outskirts of Watford ahead of the deciding match after descending from their base in St George’s Park in the Midlands.
