Armed police arrest six people after scuffle in Lewes Brighton News

ARMED police arrested six people, including a teenager, after a fight involving bricks and baseball bats.

Gun officers were called in over a report of a brawl in Horsfield Road, Lewes, just before 8:10 p.m. last night.

The trouble began with an altercation between four men and escalated, with reports of ten people fighting and damaging vehicles with bricks and baseball bats.

A man suffered a laceration to his head and was taken to hospital for treatment. Another man and two women were injured but did not require hospital treatment.

Gun officers attended the scene over the reported use of weapons and arrested two men aged 25 and 21, a boy aged 16 and three women aged 51, 21 and 32 years suspected of various offenses, including fights, assault and criminal damage.

They are in custody with the exception of the 32-year-old woman, who was released under investigation.

Inspector Justin Ingham said: “We reacted quickly after receiving reports of unrest and fighting in the Landport area in Lewes on Wednesday evening. Officers made a number of arrests and investigations continue today.

“This type of incident will not be tolerated in our local community. We are increasing our patrols in the area and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed last night’s events or have information that may assist our investigation. ”
