Key Somerset Road closed for major resurfacing Bath City News

A key road in Somerset is expected to close later this month so that major resurfacing can take place.

A section of the A372 along Westonzoyland Road has shown signs of deterioration with cracks in the pavement and is therefore undergoing resurfacing.

The main road in Bridgwater will be closed from Monday July 26 to Friday August 6, between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on weekdays only to allow for works.

Resurfacing will take place from the junction with St John Street up to five meters southeast of the junction with Clarks Road.

The total section closed throughout the resurfacing work is 415 meters and a 22 mile detour was put in place while this work was being carried out.

Councilor John Woodman, a member of the Somerset County Council Highways Cabinet, said: ‘This is part of our ongoing program to take care of our roads in the county and ensure that they are kept at a good standard. high level.

“The closure is necessary to ensure the safety of the workforce so that they can complete the work as quickly as possible. Fortunately, the road will be open during peak hours and on weekends to allow us to minimize disruption.

“Access to households and businesses in the area will be maintained and we will work in close collaboration with those affected by the works.

“Deliveries and access will be made in conjunction with the operational staff on site. Everything will be done to minimize the duration of the work. Pedestrian access will be maintained.
