Coronavirus cases in Somerset increased by 326 in past 24 hours Bath City News

There have been 326 more cases of coronavirus identified in Somerset in the past 24 hours.

According to the latest data from Public Health England, 43,339 cases of the coronavirus have now been confirmed in the county since the pandemic was declared in March.

But as the number of cases rose further, there were no new coronavirus-related deaths in Somerset for the second time in two days.

In Bath and northeast Somerset alone, 118 more coronavirus cases were identified in the 24 hours leading up to 9 a.m. today (July 8).

Although there have also now been more than 100 cases discovered in northern Somerset, where 103 positive test results have been recorded.

Meanwhile in Somerset West and Taunton there have been 29 cases, in Mendip there were 28 and in South Somerset 27 new infections have been reported.

The smallest increase was recorded in Segdemoor, where only 21 new cases were found.

Nationally, 32,551 new cases have been identified, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 5,022,893.

Meanwhile, 35 more people across the UK have died within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test, bringing the death toll to 128,336.

However, 45,601,445 first doses of the coronavirus vaccine were distributed across the UK, with 34,198,779 people double injected.

The number of positive test results in each area since the start of the pandemic is recorded below, with the new positive test results in parentheses:

Bath and North East Somerset: 9,753 (+118)
Mendip: 3,792 (+28) North Somerset: 11,577 (+103) Sedgemoor: 5,881 (+21) Somerset West and Taunton: 6,465 (+29) South Somerset: 5,871 (+27)

The number of deaths within 28 days of a positive test result in each area since the start of the pandemic is recorded below, with new deaths and deaths subtracted from the total of the following revisions to past data, in parentheses:
