Twelve officers are under investigation by the police watchdog over issues related to the case of Sarah Everard’s killer, Wayne Couzens.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said: “We have served a total of 12 notices of serious misconduct or misconduct on police officers from several forces as we continue to investigate matters related to the police. conduct of PC Couzens. “
He comes after Couzens, a metropolitan police officer on duty, pleaded guilty to the murder of Ms Everard – in a case that sparked widespread shock and outrage that led to protests over the rate of violence against women.
One notice of serious misconduct and six notices of misconduct relate to an investigation into allegations that officers violated professional standards of conduct by sharing information related to Couzens’ lawsuit through a messaging app.
