Afghan arrested in Colindale for human trafficking ring UK News

A man suspected of being a leading member of an international human trafficking network has been arrested.

Gul Wali Jabarkhel, 32, who was in the UK illegally, was arrested Thursday evening by National Crime Agency (NCA) agents in Colindale.

Jabarkhel, who is an Afghan national, is suspected of being a high-ranking member of a large Afghan organized criminal group involved in transporting migrants from northern France and Belgium to the UK in the rear trucks.

The group reportedly had contact with organized gangs in Belgium and planned to use truck drivers to regularly smuggle migrants across the Channel.

He faces two charges of conspiracy to facilitate illegal migration to the UK and will appear in Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.

NCA branch commander Andy Noyes said: “This is a significant arrest. Jabarkhel is suspected of running a criminal enterprise involving migrants crossing the Channel in trucks under dangerous circumstances.

“Organized immigration crime sees people as a commodity to be exploited and exploited, and tackling it is a priority for the NCA.

“This arrest is another example of the success we have in targeting those suspected of being involved in the trafficking of people having an impact on the UK. Others engaged in this type of activity should take note. ”
