A cow had to be brought back to her farm after wandering the motorway and blocking traffic in Staffordshire.
The animal was spotted by drivers on the M6 in Doxey on Tuesday evening, the Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG) said.
He had entered the roadway after “idiots forced open and left a farmer’s door open,” they added.
CMPG, which manages the highways in Staffordshire and the West Midlands, had to close the road before teaming up with Highways England and local farmers to bring the cow back to his field.
“She was safely removed from the network and returned home after an exciting evening,” CMPG wrote on Twitter.
“Many thanks to the drivers stranded while we closed the roadway, your patience as we deal with these and other incidents is greatly appreciated.”
