Lockdown restrictions have forced retailers to close fitting rooms in stores for several months in a bid to minimize Covid-19 infections.

But with the latest coronavirus legal rules now lifted in England, following so-called ‘freedom day’ on July 19, stores across the country have now started to reopen.

Dressing rooms in the 191 Primark stores across the UK reopened to shoppers this week.

While customers were allowed to return to non-essential stores in April, coronavirus safety rules have forced changing rooms to stay closed a bit longer.

However, a test in early July reopened locker rooms in a handful of stores to test security measures.

The retailer has confirmed that its changing rooms, washrooms and seating areas have now reopened in all of its stores and will continue with its enhanced cleaning program and keep safety measures in place.

In a statement, Primark said, “Upon entering the store, customers have the option of using the hand sanitizer that is provided at the entrance to the store.

“We hope our customers and colleagues will continue to think of others and wear face coverings in store.

“Plexiglas screens or booths were installed on the checkouts to help protect customers and employees. “

Marks and Spencer also confirmed the reopening of its changing rooms and said it would put in place “extensive hygiene measures” to ensure the safety of its customers and staff.

The retailer added that its normal refund policy still applies to all orders for customers who are uncomfortable using the dressing rooms and would prefer to order clothes online.

Additionally, John lewis confirmed that all of its store services have fully reopened, including the use of changing rooms, restrooms and restaurants.

Again, shoppers are encouraged to wear a face mask in stores, especially during peak times.

High end fashion chains H&M and River island also allow shoppers to use changing rooms in stores. Although additional safety measures, including the wearing of face masks, social distancing and the use of hand sanitizing stations, are still encouraged.
