Brands Hatch crash: Volunteer motorsport marshal killed in horror crash | United Kingdom | New UK News

Police and medics rushed to the scene of the world famous racing track near Dartford, Kent, this afternoon after a car rolled off the track during a British Automobile Racing Club (BARC Car Championship event An air ambulance landed on the track to pick up the injured Marshal in hospital, but unfortunately the volunteer died of his injuries Motorsport UK says it is “deeply saddened” by the accident.

BARC said: “The British Automobile Racing Club is saddened to confirm that following an accident at a racing meeting at Brands Hatch circuit today (Saturday July 31), a volunteer commissioner tragically lost his life.

“The remainder of the day’s running activity has been canceled.

“As with any major incident, BARC now works with the national governing body, Motorsport UK, and local police.

“On behalf of all those connected with BARC, we are devastated by the loss of one of the incredible members of the community of volunteer marshals who do so much to make the sport possible. Our thoughts and best wishes are with you. family and friends of all involved.

“The event is scheduled to resume on Sunday.”
