Man seriously injured after recycling truck accident – police call Bath City News

Police are calling for witnesses following a collision between three vehicles that left a man in critical condition in hospital and two others seriously injured.

The crash happened just over the Somerset-Devon border in Tiverton, where Blundell’s Road was closed in both directions for most of the day after the lunch hour crash.

The collision involved two cars and a Mid-Devon District Council recycling truck. As the road reopened on Wednesday evening, police confirmed that two of the people in one car had been treated for serious injuries, while a man driving the second car was seriously injured and airlifted from the scene.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “At approximately 12:45 pm on Wednesday 18 August, police witnessed a report of a three vehicle collision involving two cars and a small truck on Blundell’s Road in Tiverton, Devon.

“Two occupants of one vehicle were treated for serious injuries and the elderly driver of the other vehicle was being treated for serious injuries. The truck was stationary at the time and was hit due to the impact between the two cars The road was closed for several hours while forensic examinations of the collision scene were carried out.

“The agents of the traffic police team who attended it call on witnesses who could have seen the collision or who have images from the dashcam to contact them, quoting the newspaper 410 of August 18,” he said. he adds.

A spokesperson for Mid Devon District Council said: “The MDDC is aware that one of its recycling trucks was involved in a serious collision on Blundells Road, Tiverton earlier today on August 18, 2021 .

“Emergency services are on site and the council is cooperating with the police. No truck crew has been injured and all personnel involved are supported by their supervisors and colleagues. Further details will be communicated by the appropriate emergency services. “
