Racist thug who abused black England players hits pensioner on the ground – appeal launched | United Kingdom | New UK News

The pensioner hit his head in the wake of the attack and was left with a nasty cut that required hospital treatment – and is now calling witnesses to come forward to identify his attacker, whom he described as a “racist coward”. The man – who chose to remain anonymous – was reportedly targeted after visiting an Italian restaurant in Bingham, Nottinghamshire at 8:45 p.m. on July 12 to congratulate his friend, the owner, the day after Italy’s victory at the shoot to the net.

However, after another customer started shouting racist remarks about Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka and Jadon Sancho, the three England players who missed the penalties, he spoke up, telling the man that his language was unacceptable.

After receiving her take-out order, the victim reportedly walked to her car, where she encountered the man who continued to shout racist comments.

Despite extensive investigations, Nottinghamshire Police have not been able to identify the culprit and hope to refresh someone’s memory with the video, which shows the suspect, as well as a brief clip of the victim falling to the ground.

The victim said: “I couldn’t believe the extent of verbal abuse I was hearing, just complete blind and obscene racism.

“It was very offensive to black people and totally unjustified.

“There is no place for this behavior in football and I cannot understand where it came from.”

The victim said: “I did my best to keep the ordeal from affecting me.

“I was shaken up afterwards, but since then I have moved on with my life.

“I would just like the offender to be held accountable for his actions and I would like to tell him how much of a racist coward he is.”

The man in the video is described as white, tall, and is believed to be in his 50s or early 60s.

He had short white / gray hair and wore a khaki short-sleeved shirt, blue jeans, and white-soled sneakers.

He also wore a medical mask covering his chin.

Neighborhood Inspector Rob Lawton said: “It was a shameful act of racism and violence and there is no place for this behavior in our society.

“The victim is a pillar of the local community and acted with bravery and the utmost integrity in challenging this man.

Fortunately, his shameful views are in the minority and we, as the communities we serve, are committed to fighting this behavior and ending racism.

“My teams have carried out numerous investigations since this incident and everyone was outraged by this unprovoked attack.

“We are now asking people to help us locate the man in this video, if you recognize him, please contact us.”

Anyone who recognizes the man in the video is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101 citing incident 890 of July 12.
