Witnesses wanted after woman died in collision on the A29 Brighton News

A WOMAN died in a car crash on the A29 earlier this afternoon, police confirmed.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Slindon after two cars collided.

One of the drivers, an 80-year-old woman, died at the scene, while the man behind the wheel of the other car was taken to hospital for treatment.

In a statement, Sussex Police said: “At 12:33 pm on Friday August 27, emergency services were called on the A29 at Fairmile Bottom, Madehurst near Slindon, after two cars collided.

“The driver of one of the cars, a woman in her 40s, was unfortunately confirmed dead at the scene.

“The man driving the other car was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries.

“No one else has been reported involved.

“The A29 has been closed in both directions for the incident to be dealt with, and drivers are thanked for their patience and understanding in the inevitable resulting delays.”

Police are looking for witnesses to the collision and are encouraging anyone who saw what happened to contact Sussex Police via collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or by calling 1010, citing Operation Dordrecht.
