Volkswagen celebrates diversity with pride-themed ID 3 Car News

Volkswagen UK has revealed a unique rainbow-colored ID 3 to “represent unqualified inclusion” and to be “a celebration of diversity”.

Ready to make his public debut on September 11th at Milton Keynes Pride (chosen for sponsorship because it is the closest event to Volkswagen France seat), the unique power tailgate has been dubbed the PRID 3.

It wears a camouflage wrap similar to that used by the pre-production ID 3 prototypes, but rendered in the 11 colors of the Pride of Progress flag.

The manufacturer said: “The traditional red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple [of the pride flag] are joined by black and brown to represent LGBTQ + people of color and pink, light blue and white to include transgender people.

“All of these colors blend into each other in a shaded effect to reflect the community and oneness of all communities and identities, as well as to celebrate their differences.”

The livery was designed by Volkswagen firm and Kent Creative FX and took three days to apply over donor ID 3 Glacier White paint.

Showcasing the 201bhp Pro Performance specification, the electric vehicle remains fully approved on the road and will be driven from Volkswagen’s UK headquarters to the festival site.

Volkswagen United Kingdom DThe University and Inclusion program includes the Driven Women, Cultural Diversity and Parents and Carers employee groups and, since late 2019, the We Drive Proud group for LGBTQ + employees.

Andrew Savvas, Director of Volkswagen UK, said: “PRID 3 brings together what we do as a car manufacturer and what we do as a responsible employer.

“This shows that Volkswagen seeks its employees with inclusive and fair employment and hiring practices, and behind the ID 3 itself are the brand’s commitments to environmental responsibility, providing the neutral model by to customers and providing a truly affordable electric car.
