How to register for the 2022 London Marathon ballot UK News

The London Marathon is back for 2021 and around 100,000 runners are expected to take part, making it the biggest event to date.

After a virtual event was held in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, a physical marathon was able to make a comeback due to the lifting of restrictions.

Competitors have been training for months now and are said to have been at the London Marathon Running Show this week to drop off their kitbag and lateral flow test.

Runners may already be thinking about next year’s event and will want to host it.

Places are however limited and, as in previous years, a ballot will be organized to determine who will participate.

How to participate in the 2022 London Marathon ballot

Information on the 2021 London Marathon app reveals when the ballot will open.

Voting will be live to participate from Sunday October 3 through Friday October 8, and it will close at 9 p.m. on that day.

The cost of a seat for successful UK participants is £ 49 (with a discount of £ 2 for members of UKA affiliated running clubs).

How is the ballot drawn?

This is a completely random ballot, so everyone who registers has an equal chance of participating in the 2022 marathon.

How can I increase my chances of winning a place?

Although drawn by lot, applicants are asked if they wish to bequeath their entry fee to the London Marathon Charitable Trust in the event of failure.

All applicants who do not secure a place but have bequeathed their registration fee are then entered into a lucky bequest draw for another 2,000 places.

When will the election results be announced?

It is expected that the results of the poll will be announced 2-3 months after its closure.
