Brighton pantomime canceled due to fears over Omicron variant Brighton News

A NOL pantomime has been canceled due to fears over the Omicron variant of Covid-19.

Brighton’s performance of Aladdin, which was due to take place at the Brighton Center later this month, has been postponed due to concerns about the health and safety of the cast, crew and clients.

The show will now take place on Christmas 2022.

Former EastEnders star Anita Dobson, BBC Sussex’s Allison Ferns, girl group The Sundaes and children’s TV star Carl Tracey were all scheduled to appear on the show.

A spokesperson for E3 Events, the organizers of the pantomime, said: “We are deeply saddened to announce that our much anticipated pantomime, Aladdin, at the Brighton Center has been postponed until next year.

“Due to the length of the show and the uncertainty and risk surrounding the Omicron variant of Covid-19, we have made the difficult decision to postpone production until December 2022.

“The health and safety of our clients, cast and crew is our primary concern and given the current situation, we believe the best decision for this show is to move it to next year.

“While this is extremely disappointing, we believe that by making this decision now, we are doing everything we can to keep everyone safe and to ensure that next year’s show will be even better.”

Ticket holders have been told that their tickets will remain valid for the same times and dates next year, and have advised those who are unable to attend to contact their point of sale.

The pantomime was set to be the first to take place at the Brighton Center, with ten performances between December 22 and 27.

The show will now run from Thursday, December 22 to Tuesday, December 27 of next year.

The news comes after Prime Minister Boris Johnson urged all eligible adults to ‘get a boost now’ as part of a campaign to prevent an increase in deaths from the Omicron variant of Covid-19.

The Prime Minister has confirmed that at least one person in the UK has died with the Omicron variant of Covid-19.
