Lay your head to rest during National Bed Month

We all know how important it is to get a good night’s sleep to feel rested and perform at your peak each day.

Introduced by the Sleep Council and the National Bed Federation, National Bed Month takes place every March.

Why organize National Bed Month?

It aims to raise awareness of the importance of sleep and, more specifically, the importance of a good comfortable bed to promote a good night’s sleep.

Forget the old adage that if you doze off, you lose. Good sleep is believed to have amazing properties that make you healthier and happier, and can even add years to your life.

On the Sleep Council website, you can find out everything you need to get the perfect sleep, and of course, the right bed should be your number one priority.

Groundbreaking study

In 1988, a groundbreaking study found that replacing an old, uncomfortable bed with a nice new one meant 42 more minutes of sleep.

It could be the difference between a grumpy tomorrow or a pleasant day from the moment you wake up.

The National Bed Federation is calling on bed manufacturers and retailers to support the annual awareness campaign.

Long term campaign

The campaign, which has been running for more than 30 years, promotes the health benefits of buying a new bed to consumers, especially one made by many NBF-approved members.

This year’s theme – ‘Wake Up on the Right Side, with the Right Bed’ #RightSideOfTheBed – will focus on bed buying advice to ensure consumers get the right bed for their needs, as well as advice on how to take care of it to prolong its life.

According to an NBF consumer study, 41% replace their old mattresses in five years or less, with a third citing wear and tear on their old bed as the reason for replacement and 21% that it is uncomfortable.

Most adults need seven to nine hours of sleep per night.

Last words

On the National Bed Federation’s website www.bedfed.org.uk, Simon Williams, Marketing and Membership Director of the NBF, said: “Over the years hundreds of retailers and manufacturers have supported the National Bed Month in their sales and marketing campaigns.
