Take it or leave it: the second-hand choices of March 4 Car News

Fiat Tipo, £8395: This Fiat Tipo is a bit of an alternative family car option, a far cry from the ubiquitous Volkswagen Golf or Ford Focus. This 2016 example features premium extras like a backup camera and metallic paint, but its 1.4-liter engine is weak for the class. It only produces 94 bhp, which means it will hit 100 km/h in an uncompetitive 12.5 seconds.

Verdict: let it go

Volkswagen CrossPolo, £8,940: It’s one of the coolest crossovers out there, admittedly largely because of its rarity. Based on the fifth-generation Polo, the model was never officially sold in the UK, so it’s ultra-rare. This one is a 2010 Japanese import and is powered by a 1.2-liter TSI gasoline engine. It has done 48,000 miles, has a DSG automatic gearbox and comes with plenty of equipment.

Verdict: take it
