Sheffield chef Luke French, mastermind behind Jöro, shortlisted for BBC2’s Great British Menu UK News

Luke French, the mastermind behind catering establishment Steel City Jöro, revealed on Instagram that he will appear on BBC2’s Great British Menu representing the North East and Yorkshire.

Combining local produce with Asian influences from a shipping container in Sheffield, Luke French is part of a new generation of modern British chefs pushing county cuisine forward.

Making the announcement, he said: ‘I am proud and delighted to announce that I am representing the North East and Yorkshire this year on @greatbritishmenu.

“I’ve watched this show in awe since it started, and as a young chef growing up I’ve always wanted to cook @greatbritishmenu so I’m thrilled to finally be one of the competing chefs in this kitchen .” Tune in to see Luke at 8pm BBC2 Tuesday cooking alongside Mark Aisthorpe, Liz Cottam, Bobby Geetha and host Andi Oliver
