The new Aston Martin V12 Vantage will be unveiled next week Car News

The Aston Martin V12 Vantage will be unveiled on March 16, the brand has confirmed.

The supercar will return for a final generation in 2022 and previous teasers have hinted at how it will be distinguished from the standard V8 version.

Shown alongside its predecessors in a darkened image, the new 12-cylinder car appears to feature a bespoke front end with a much larger grille – similar to that of the hardcore Vantage F1 Edition – and new vertical air intakes. Just about visible is a downforce-enhancing front splitter, which is likely made from carbon fiber.

Aston previously announced that the new Porsche 911 Turbo S rival will arrive in 2022 but did not share any design details or technical specifications for the model. A short excerpt (below) gives an overview of its engine rating.

In the Aston Martin V12 Speedster, launched in 2021, the 5.2-liter engine produces 690 hp and 555 lb-ft of torque, giving it a 0-62 mph sprint of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of peak of 186 mph.

A Vantage mule was spied with an updated grille, large dual exhaust, extra air intakes and a hood bulge that was believed to hide a bigger engine than the current Vantage’s V8.

Aston Martin CEO Tobias Moers has outlined plans to introduce 10 new derivatives of existing models over the next two years, including the V12 Vantage.

The British firm is facing challenges in bringing its V12 engine up to Euro 7 emissions standards, but Moers said “V12 aficionados” would make the effort worthwhile.

Other changes for the Vantage are expected to include chassis upgrades and a new infotainment system.

The current Vantage, introduced in 2018, is expected to be replaced in 2025 by an all-electric sports coupe. A plug-in hybrid model is also under consideration. This would use a new electrified transaxle supplied by Mercedes-AMG and shared with its next-generation C63.
