As an avowed chocaholic, Aldi’s new range of Easter eggs for 2022 had a lot going for it.
From vegan and gluten-free chocolate ice cream cone creations, I wanted to see which Aldi products were really worth buying and if the larger, more luxurious designs were good value for money.
I have to put a disclaimer here, I’m a huge fan of plain eggs made with tasty, good quality chocolate.
To me, it’s not about novelty designs, squirting chocolate chips and the price tags that go with it.
So when I took a look at Aldi’s Easter selection, I decided my mission was to find an egg that looked great but tasted even better.
One product that really intrigued me was Dairyfine’s Chocolate Ice Cream Egg (£6.99) – a blond chocolate wafer cone topped with a scoop of milk chocolate, finished with mini eggs and cookie crumbs, plus a popping candy cone base.
Resembling the popular Cornetto ice cream, I was genuinely amazed at the attention to detail when I reached the end of the ‘cone’ and discovered chocolate covered popsicles and milk chocolate.
It was a real treat to eat and I think I would have bounced off the walls in joy (and maybe a sugar high) if I had been given this as a kid.
The one thing that really struck me about Aldi’s Easter egg offering was the efficient use of recyclable materials, leaving you guilt-free when it comes to packaging. Even the ice egg wasn’t covered in excess single-use plastic.
The cone almost tasted like Caramac – if that’s a candy on your street, this is the ‘egg’ for you.
The different combinations of chocolate crumbs and crackers sprinkled on top left my sweet tooth more than satisfied.
With the chocolate ice cream egg you really have a bit of everything and I think it’s a worthwhile purchase.
Salted Caramel Easter Eggs
There’s a major theme in Aldi’s Easter egg and chocolate collection for 2022: salted caramel.

I recruited a salted caramel expert, otherwise known as my boyfriend, to help review the entire salted caramel selection.
I thought the salted caramel was something that didn’t really vary in quality – yet some of these eggs really stood out as the best.
In my humble opinion, one of Aldi’s best chocolate eggs is the Moser Roth Salted Caramel Egg (£4.49) with Hidden Truffles, part of the Free From range.
Although it was milk, egg, wheat and gluten free, it had little bursts of salted caramel flavor with every bite and it wasn’t too rich.
It would have been easy to eat the whole egg all at once, not to mention the mouth-watering truffles hiding inside the box.
For serious salted caramel fans, the ChocoChanger Salted Caramel Egg (£4.99) is the go-to choice.
As soon as you open the box, a strong aroma of caramel erupts while the chocolate bursts with a creamy, salty sweetness.
One of the most surprising salted caramel items was the Rich Belgian Vegan Dark Chocolate Desk Bunnies (£2.99) – you couldn’t have too many but one every once in a while would really hit the mark.

If salted caramel is your idea of heaven, I highly recommend heading to Aldi for a spin.
One of Aldi’s most delicious chocolate treats was the indulgent assortment of hand-decorated chocolate eggs (£4.99) with different types of fillings.
From orange to dark chocolate and speculoos to pistachio and macadamia, these chocolates are sure to be the ones you’ll be hard pressed not to eat all at once.
The flavors worked really well together – an ideal choice for people who like different types of chocolate and something visually appealing.
One tasted like sticky caramel pudding while the raspberry chocolate had such delicate berry notes – absolutely perfect.
Aldi hazelnut filled eggs and hazelnut chocolate bunnies.
Now, I’m not the biggest fan of hazelnuts, but Aldi played an absolute role with this flavor in 2022.
Moser Roth’s Hazelnut Chocolate Bunny (£1.49) leaves you speechless, just “Mmmm”.
Adorned with a cute green bow and bunny charm, the bunny looked great and tasted even better than you might expect.
The creamy chocolate melts in your mouth while the hazelnut hits the mark.
If you love Ferrero Rocher, you have to try Aldi’s delicious Crispy Hazelnut Filled Eggs (£1.99).
A mix between Nutella and Ferrero Rocher, these chocolate eggs have a biscuity yet smooth texture with a wonderful nutty aftertaste.
Meanwhile, the Belgian Milk and Almond Egg in Dark Chocolate Moser Roth (£5.99) was something unique, with salted almond butter.
The combination of sweet but salty almond butter with two types of chocolate was well balanced – although it had a strong aftertaste, meaning it’s not for those who can take or leave almonds .
