Brighton man jailed for harassment and threats against women Brighton News

A MAN who constantly harassed women with sexual and offensive remarks has been recalled to prison.

But the 32-year-old was released after already serving his sentence while awaiting trial.

On March 4, police received a report from a woman in Lewes Road of a man, matching Parson’s description, making aggressive threats to members of the public.

Police launched an investigation to confirm the suspect was Parsons, and over the next two days officers received two more reports of harassment and trafficking of women in Lewes Road.

Sussex Police also received reports of harassment and threats to staff at Parsons’ residence at Stanley Court in Lewes Road.

At midnight on March 10, officers in Lewes Road were flagged down by a member of the public, who reported that a woman was being harassed by a man who had left the scene.

The victim was supported by officers and his description of the man also matched that of Parsons.

He was arrested on March 11 for the four offenses and returned to prison for violating the terms of his license.

Parsons will serve the remaining three months of his sentence.

Superintendent Adele Tucknott, Sussex Police’s Violence Against Women and Girls Force Leader, said: ‘Jamie Parsons is an infamous presence in the Lewes Road area, particularly for women, well known for his despicable and threatening comments and behavior.

“As soon as we became aware of reports that a man we believed to be Parsons was again harassing women in the city, we took proactive steps to launch an investigation and take him into custody.

“I believe there are other victims of Parsons that we know nothing about, and I encourage everyone to let us know their concerns either online or by calling 101. As always, call 999 in case of emergency.

“Violence against women and girls is a societal issue, and as a force we take offenses like these – the insidious behavior that makes women feel threatened and uncomfortable – incredibly at serious.
