Repairs to A41 bridge at Edgware will cause ‘significant delays’ UK News

Transport for London (TfL) is warning of ‘significant delays’ in the Edgware area which are expected to last into the summer.

Repairs are underway to the A41 Edgware Way bridge which crosses the M1 near Apex Corner.

Work begins on Friday April 1 and lasts until mid-August, according to TfL.

The project will result in complete road closures at night as well as lane closures during the day.

TfL said all main access roads and surrounding roads, such as the A1 and Edgware and Stanmore streets, will be “busy” and people can expect “significant delays” in their movements.

A number of bus lines will be disrupted with traffic on the A41 and M1 impacted.

Below you will find a series of questions and answers about the works taking place and when and how they may affect people using the road network.

How will the A41 be affected?

During the day the A41 will be open but there will be lane closures in and around the bridge where work is taking place.

However, there will also be full nighttime closures to contend with, which will often occur on weekends.

From April 1-2, May 6-9 and June 16-17, the A41 will be closed eastbound between the Spur Road roundabout and Apex Corner between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., with a closure until at 6:00 a.m. from June 16 to 17.

TfL has warned that passengers on the following routes will be delayed regardless of what time they travel: 113, 186, 292, 384, 605, 606, 614, 644 and N113.

Routes 113, 186 and N113 eastbound will be rerouted on the following dates: April 1-2, May 6-9 and June 16-17

Routes 113, 186 and N113 westbound will be diverted on the following dates: May 9-10, June 17-20, July 15-18 and July 22-25

What is TfL’s advice?

TfL said the roads would be ‘extremely busy’ and warned people to ‘expect significant delays’.

For those making shorter journeys, people are recommended to walk or cycle, if possible.

Those passing through the area into central London are recommended to avoid the A41 and use the A1 or A10 instead, while those passing through Greater London are advised to use the M25.
