Police called to an incident at a children’s holiday park on the Somerset border Bath City News

Emergency services reportedly rushed to a popular Dorset schools holiday camp where a man is said to be struggling atop the abseil tower. The incident took place at the PGL center in Osmington, near Weymouth, which is often used for outdoor activities.

Police were first called to the scene at 7.08am after windows were smashed and then at 7.20am to be concerned about the well-being of the man atop the tower. Fire and ambulance services also attended the scene to support police, reports Dorset Live.

Osmington Bay is an outdoor activity center run by PGL which is used by several children and school groups from Dorset and beyond, the site is particularly popular with secondary schools.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “Dorset Police received a report at 7.08am on Monday April 4 that a man smashed the windows of a property at PGL Holiday Park in Osmington, Weymouth Another report was received around 7.20am, raising concerns for the well-being of the man atop the rappel tower.

“Officers, as well as the ambulance and fire services, responded to attend to the man and bring him to safety. The matter was concluded just before 1.30pm. He was transported to the hospital to receive appropriate care.

‘The incident was unrelated to any activity at the holiday park and officers from the local Neighborhood Policing Team liaised with the park.’ Weymouth and Poole Fire Services were called to the scene at 8.44am to support police. They then left the scene at 1.48pm after the man was taken to hospital.
