A PUNK icon has died aged 66 after a short battle with cancer.
Jordan Mooney, real name Pamela Rooke, died in her hometown of Seaford surrounded by her family at 9 p.m. on Sunday April 3.
The “punk queen” succumbed to a “relatively rare form of cancer known as cholangiocarcinoma” which is cancer of the bile ducts.
The fashion icon was well known in London’s punk subculture with her sense of style and dress – a bleached platinum blonde haircut and dark raccoon eye makeup.
She worked with fashion designer Vivienne Westwood and was also seen at many early Sex Pistols performances in the 1970s.
In a statement, his family said: “It is with the greatest sadness that the family of Jordan Mooney announces that she has passed away at the age of 66.
“She passed away peacefully just a stone’s throw from the sea in her home town of Seaford, East Sussex in the company of her loving family at 9pm last night (Sunday April 3).
“Jordan (Pamela Rooke) left her mark on this planet, whether as ‘The Queen of Punk’, or for her veterinary work and her countless award-winning cats. She lived life to the full and was true to herself. and to others throughout her life.She was totally respected and respected by all who knew her.
“Jordan was truly a rare and blessed individual. She wanted no speculation about her passing and wanted the world to know that after a short period of illness she had succumbed to a relatively rare form of cancer known as cholangiocarcinoma (cancer of the bile ducts).
“Jordan was a wonderful woman and will be remembered for countless decades to come.
“The Rooke family have asked for time to mourn their loss and ask everyone to please respect that – thank you.”
