A1 closed between Stirling and Apex Corner after crash UK News

The A1 was closed for several hours this morning after an accident involving a motorbike.

Emergency services were called to the three-lane carriageway at around 5.45am (April 8) following reports of a collision.

A van and a motorbike were involved and it happened on the section between Stirling Corner in Borehamwood and Apex Corner in Edgware.

The motorcyclist, believed to be in his 40s, was taken to hospital.

The Metropolitan Police were unable to provide any information on his condition at this time.

The driver of the van remained at the scene. Police have confirmed that no arrests have been made and investigations into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.

Accident investigation work took place on the southbound carriageway this morning, but the closure of the A1 road was lifted by late morning.

The closure has caused severe delays to surrounding roads – particularly in the Borehamwood, Elstree and Arkley areas, with Allum Lane and Barnet Lane particularly affected.

All traffic delays are now eliminated.
