Loose Women’s Brenda Edwards releases a statement on the death of her son Jamal

She said: “The fact that Jamal is no longer here has left a huge impact on my life and the lives of his family, friends and all those he supported and raised in his unique and humble way.

“Jamal has lived his life staying true to himself, providing a platform for all to show off what makes them special while encouraging everyone to believe in themselves to reach their full potential. I was so touched by the messages of support received from people from all walks of life who have positive stories to tell of Jamal’s generosity which he gave selflessly.

“To honor his memory and continue his legacy, the Jamal Edwards Self Belief Trust has been established with the aim of supporting the causes that matter most to Jamal. The Trust will target three key interrelated areas: (i) tackling homelessness (ii) Support people with mental health issues and (iii) Provide young people with essential life skills.

“The Trust will seek to establish a network of ‘self-belief’ homes with the aim of providing people living on the streets with a roof over their heads. There will be programs to help address issues of mental health issues they may face as well as the means La Maison will offer specialized programs designed to address self-confidence issues and other psychological challenges that residents may be facing.

“Jamal was passionate about empowering young people and providing the next generation with both life skills and opportunities to maximize their potential. The second key initiative on which the Trust will focus its energy and resources will be building the SB Academy, which will continue Jamal’s mission of hosting specialized programs aimed at helping young people prepare for adulthood.”

She added: “While we await the completion of the establishment of the Trust, we would appreciate any contribution you can make to the Trust and we hope that we can do Jamal proud by developing these programs to support causes that he cared deeply about. Please see the go fund me link in my bio for more details. Thank you, love.”
