Labor leader Sir Keir Starmer said both should resign, while Sir Ed Davey of the Liberal Democrats called for Parliament to be recalled from its Easter recess to hold a no-confidence vote on the Prime Minister.

By convention, ministers who have misled Parliament are expected to resign or face dismissal, but the convention has proven to mean very little to Johnson.

However, for the record, let us be clear about what they said in the House of Commons. When asked if he had attended either of the two Christmas parties approximately a year earlier, Mr. Sunak on December 7, 2021 said: “No, I did not attend any parties.”
