FATBOY Slim has confirmed he is set to star in the third and final series of Derry Girls.

The Hove DJ landed a cameo role in the hit sitcom after revealing he was a “huge fan” of the show, which is set in Derry during The Troubles.

The final season of Derry Girls starts tonight at 9.15pm on Channel 4.

In an interview on The Argus Podcast, Fatboy Slim, real name Norman Cook, revealed viewers will get to see him on the show, but didn’t specify which character he’ll be playing.

“I’m not allowed to say much, so I’m not divulging anything,” he said.

“But yeah, maybe you could see me in season three. But that’s all I can say.

The 58-year-old was also spotted wearing a jacket that read ‘Derry Girls Season 3’ during a promotional video for his upcoming Brighton beach shows.

The DJ will headline the On the Beach festival in Brighton on Friday 22 and Thursday 21 July.

His performance will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Big Beach Boutique concert, described as the “biggest event Sussex has ever seen”.

Tickets for both days of the event are sold out.

Derry Girls follows the lives of five high school students facing the universal challenges of being a teenager amid Northern Ireland’s political conflict in the 1990s.

The sitcom was created and written by Northern Irish writer Lisa McGee, the first series aired in 2018, while the second series was released the following year.

A third and final series was ordered for 2020, but postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Derry Girls starts at 9.15pm on Tuesday April 12 on Channel 4.
