BBC Eastenders star Melanie Clark Pullen dies aged 46 as former co-star pays tribute UK News

BBC Eastenders star Melanie Clark Pullen has died aged 46 after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

The actress played Pauline Fowler’s niece, Mary Flaherty, on the long-running soap opera.

Melanie was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019 and is survived by her husband Simon and their three children.

After initially recovering from breast cancer, Melanie revealed she was diagnosed with a brain tumor last June.

She wrote: “I was given the green light from cancer just 18 months ago and it’s a heartbreak to think I’m now going to start some sort of treatment again and this time it will be long term and a permanent part of my life.”

The actress has also starred in a number of period dramas, including ITV’s A Dinner Full of Herbs.

In March, the actress shared a snap visiting family in Bray.

Eastenders fans paid tribute to the actress and former EastEnders co-star Andrew Lynford tweeted: “How sad to hear that we have lost one of the gang members. RIP dear Melanie.
