Mercedes-AMG A35 and CLA 35 gain 55 special edition models Car News

Mercedes-AMG has added two special edition packs to its range to celebrate 55 years since the creation of the performance brand.

The Mercedes-AMG A35 and Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 can now be ordered with an Edition 55 package, which adds a unique design and improved standard equipment.

They succeed the Mercedes-AMG G63 Edition 55, unveiled last month.

Both cars come standard with an AMG aerodynamic package, which the firm says improves driving dynamics and performance. It includes a new front apron, an enlarged front splitter and a large rear spoiler. The side spoiler lips further add to the sporty look of the sedan and four-door coupe.

Both cars also come with the premium Night Pack, which adds gloss black trim to the front splitter, trim elements, door mirrors, exterior air vents and window sills.

The tailpipes are also finished in black, as are the fenders, boot lid, grille and model badges.

Each car gets its own unique “55th Anniversary” plaque on the steering wheel.

Under the skin, the two models are unchanged, using a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 302 hp and 295 lb-ft.

Two paint colors are available – Cosmos Black Metallic and Digital White Metallic – and both special editions sit on a set of 19-inch gray-finished alloy wheels.

The cabin is decorated with a combination of black and red leather and the steering wheel is finished with microfiber.

The door sills feature red illuminated “AMG” lettering, while elsewhere you’ll find aluminum trim with red and black accents.
