Family ‘distraught’ after 14-week-old puppy snatched from car in Somerset Bath City News

A family have been left ‘distraught’ after a 14-week-old puppy was snatched from a car in Somerset. A lost pet charity says Archie, a dachshund, was taken to Enmore Road near Bridgwater earlier this month.

Beauty’s Legacy is appealing for help after the April 11 incident. The charity’s Lisa Dean said the dog’s elderly owner tried to pursue the thieves after stealing Archie, but to no avail, and no sightings have been made since.

A reward is offered to anyone who can help them locate Archie. Lisa told Somerset Live: “Archie was 14 weeks old when he was robbed on April 11. He is a smooth haired dachshund.

“The landlady took Archie to a field where she keeps horses in Enmore Road. She left Archie in a crate in the car for a few minutes while she went to see the horses as he has not yet received all the injections he needs as a puppy.

“However, we believe it was followed, a Land Rover pulled up and the thieves forced open the window and took the crate and drove off. The vehicle was an old-style Land Rover.

“Some people have provided information, but we still haven’t been able to locate Archie. He is microchipped and we also have his DNA, so it will be difficult for thieves to move on.

“The impact on the family is huge – they’re just distraught.” Anyone with information has been asked to contact Beauty’s Legacy on 07866026343 or email info@beautyslegacy.co.uk.

Avon and Somerset Police have been contacted for further information.
