Brighton man charged with burglary carried out on crutches Brighton News

A MAN has been charged with two burglaries – one of which was carried out with crutches.

Police were called to a flat in New Church Road, Hove, on April 12 following reports of a burglary in progress.

Officers arrived and confronted the intruder.

He was able to escape by breaking a ground floor window and fleeing through a nearby garden.

He left a trail of blood from a wound in his leg, police said.

After a thorough search, he was found in a Portland Road garden after a member of the public reported a man with serious leg injuries.

He was arrested on suspicion of burglary, taken to hospital for treatment and released on bail.

On April 19, a member of the public reported that a man on crutches broke into a property in Egginton Road, Brighton, before leaving the scene by bus.

The officers were present. He was arrested on suspicion of burglary.

William Djama, 33, of Buckingham Street, Brighton, has been charged with two counts of burglary and remanded in custody pending a hearing on May 19.
