James Corden explains why he left the Late Late Show

He told US publication Deadline: “It was a very difficult decision to leave because I’m immensely proud of the show. I’m thrilled to extend [for a year]. I always thought I would do it for five years and then leave and stay.

“I really thought about it for a long time, wondering if there could be another adventure.

“My bosses here at CBS have been incredibly supportive and extraordinarily patient as I made this decision.”

“We wish he could stay longer, but we are very proud that he has made CBS his American home and that this partnership extends one more season on The Late Late Show.”
