A company near Weston-super-Mare has opened a huge new office with staff facilities including an on-site gym, recording studio, social area with arcade machine – and even a museum computer science.
The fully refurbished Ascot Group business campus in Worle cost £1.5m, spans three sites and will house over 100 staff.
The company also offers perks for its employees, including access to a TV with streaming services, seated massages, a high-tech music system, and team activities.

Andrew Scott, the group’s chief executive, said the campus was the result of “many years of hard work”. He said: “I am delighted with the end result. Since the pandemic there has been a real change in the way we work across the UK, a good pay is not the only priority for people. At the Instead, individuals seek so much more from their employer and at the Ascot Group we are passionate about building real community within the working environment.”
The company’s on-site museum – the Ascot Computer Museum – features the first portable computer which was launched in 1981 and sparked a generation of programming wizards. It also has a Tiny ZX81, launched in 1981; BBC Micro, launched in 1981; Apple Macintosh, 1984; a 1984 Amstrad CPC; and an IMB PS1 PC, launched in 1990.

Mr Scott, who founded the company in 2004, said the opening of the offices marked the start of an “exciting new adventure” for the company.
He said: “We want to create a positive work culture where our entire team looks forward to coming to work every day and can spend as much time together collaborating. That’s why we’ve built state-of-the-art facilities, including a dedicated gym and lounging area for lunch and after-work socializing within the office. »

This week the company appointed a so-called “social team” who will advocate for the organization of specialist activities for the whole team to support the importance of a good work-life balance, Ascot Group said .
“I think it’s time to get back to the office and start working together in a collaborative and creative way again and the Ascot campus is the perfect place to do that,” Mr Scott added.
Since 2020, the group has recruited more than 30 new employees and plans to further increase this number to reach 200 employees over the next three years.
