London Underground: Stations to close over Jubilee weekend as staff fret UK News

The weekend is expected to be the busiest of the year, with an extended public holiday and an influx of tourists expected to hit the capital, putting further pressure on the metro network.

But now, with two major central London stations closed due to a strike, the service will be forced to face more pressure.

Green Park and Euston stations are scheduled to be closed from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on Friday June 3.

The news comes as members of the RMT union voted to quit over the mistreatment of staff.

As RMT General Secretary Mick Lynch said in a statement: “This dispute is due to the unacceptable and ongoing bullying and intimidating behavior of management and despite the extra efforts of your RMT representatives to make progress on these questions, they face total intransigence from LUL.”

He also said they expect the June 3 strikes to cause significant disruption to those celebrating on the weekend.

But added that “the union remains available for talks and I urge you all to support the above action to ensure management returns to meaningful talks to resolve this dispute.”

The action means trains on the Northern and Victoria lines will skip Euston stations all day.

While the trains of the Jubilee, Piccadilly and Victoria lines will have to touch the station of Green Park.
