Platinum Jubilee in London: all the events you can attend UK News

In just over a week, the nation will celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, with events taking place across the country to mark the historic occasion.

With many key and most important events taking place in the capital, from Trooping the Colour, the Platinum Party at the Palace and much more.

But there are other local events that you can still get tickets for or are free to attend.

To save you a job, we’ve gathered all the information about the events happening in the area that you can attend.

Platinum Jubilee events across London:

Color Parade:

Date: June 2

It will be the first time the event has been held in its entirety since the pandemic, with more than 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians.

Although tickets are now sold out, you can watch it live on TV.

Thanksgiving Service:

Date: June 3

A service of thanksgiving for the Queen’s reign will be held at St Paul’s Cathedral.

However, this is a private event, but the public and well-wishers are likely to gather around the cathedral to view the royal family.

Platinum Evening at the Palace

Date: June 4

Buckingham Palace is hosting an exciting concert with iconic artists ready to take the stage, including Eurovision’s Diana Ross and Sam Ryder.

Although tickets are now sold out, the BBC will broadcast the concert live on BBC One.

Platinum Picnic in Greenwich:

Date: June 3

Take your own picnic to Charlton Park in Greenwich from 12pm to 4pm to enjoy Jubilee themed activities.

The event is free and you don’t need a ticket, so all you have to do is come.

Mayfair Jubilee Celebration:

Dates: June 2 and 3

Mayfair is about to turn into a free summer party with world-class entertainment and a communal party taking place on North Audley Street.

With a 200 foot banquet table there will be plenty of food and drink and it promises to be a party to remember.

Battersea Power Station Platinum Jubilee Celebrations:

Dates: June 2 and 3

The resort will host a special Britannia-inspired party with a mix of live music, dance performances, food and more.

The event is perfect for the whole family with plenty to do and free admission.

Southbank Center

Dates: June 1 to 3

The Southbank Center has a huge range of events taking place over the weekend.

Including subtle family-friendly Punk Alley, you can watch the Lazurr Tuts as they invite everyone to participate in song-making, sign-writing and music.

Or there’s the Nu Civilization Orchestra: The Queen’s Suite which will see the famed orchestra perform a section of Duke Ellington’s jazz compositions.

You can book tickets now for any of the many events at the Southbank Center.

Superbloom at the Tower of London:

Visit the landmark and admire millions and millions of beautiful flowers that surrounded the moat.

It runs from June 1 to September 18 with over 20 million seeds planted throughout the summer.
