In the heart of the bunker-laboratory where the Maserati Mc20- was born

For many it was love at first sight. When the Maserati MC20 was presented a few months ago, it “warmed” the hearts of many enthusiasts. Sure beautiful, very beautiful but the reality is that the MC 20 is the Meserati of the turning point. The progenitor of a new generation of GTs and unpublished SUVs. A clean break with the past, read also Ferrari, for cars that have the ambition to regain the unmistakable pedigree of the Trident within the Stellantis group. The heart of the MC20 is the brand new 630 HP three-liter twin-turbo V6 (with record specific power: 210 HP / liter), 730 Nm of torque.

Maserati proudly showed it inside the sophisticated Engine Lab in the renovated plant in via Ciro Menotti in Modena where the MC20 will be built and marketed in the near future. An obviously virtual presentation where we could still admire this flagship of Italian industry, while the project manager, engineer Matteo Valentini, illustrated its salient features. Beside him the head of the Center, Jonata Azzali. First of all, it is important to underline that this “explosive” V6 is the first engine entirely designed and built by Maserati and the progenitor of a family of engines that will be declined in different power levels on the cars of the Trident of tomorrow, including the Grecale SUV.

Engine so sophisticated that it is covered by an international patent for its exclusive combustion system derived from the world of F1. In summary, traditional combustion has been associated with a pre-chamber system, which incorporates a spark plug. In summary, this system generates various flame fronts for faster and more uniform combustion. The result? Much more power and efficiency. In a word, even more exciting performance on paper: just to give an idea, the MC20 goes from 0 to 100 in less than three seconds and reaches 325 km / h. An exclusive car, whose task is to drive the brand towards the future. It is a supercar in all, even in terms of price: 216 thousand euros and first deliveries shortly. In the future, in addition to an open version, a full electric version of the MC20 will also be built in 2022. Apparently they are really serious in Modena.
