Agnès and Sylvain, two Montpellier residents, have chosen Venice, Italy, for the happiest day of their lives. The newlyweds go up the Grand Canal as did hundreds of princesses and actors before them. “It’s a waking dream, it’s the magic of Venice”, rejoices Agnès. The ceremony at the town hall will be fully translated by an interpreter, because the marriage celebrated in Venice has the same legal value as if it were pronounced in France.
The couple is all the more moved as Agnes is celebrating her birthday and her wedding at the same time, with, as a setting, the city of their first emotions together, four years ago. “We wanted our marriage and our love to be like Venice. Unique, out of the ordinary”, says Agnès, very moved. About a hundred French couples will get married in Venice this year. For the town hall, it’s a good deal: it charges between 600 and 1,000 euros for the ceremony. To photograph this dream day, the couple called on Laure Jacquemin, who has lived in Venice for 20 years. In Venice, there are obligatory passages, such as Saint Mark’s Square, the Bridge of Sighs or the famous gondola ride. Without forgetting the gastronomy.
