Wigan rape: Tattooed and masked suspect tracked down by police after 14-year-old girl was dragged through bushes | UK News

A tattooed sex abuser is tracked down by police after a 14-year-old girl was dragged into bushes and raped.

The young victim was targeted as she walked through open ground south of Westleigh Park in Leigh, Wigan, Thursday afternoon.

The girl, who is supported by specialist officers after her ordeal, managed to give a detailed description of her attacker, raising hopes that someone could recognize him.

He is said to be white, 6 feet, around 20 years old and with green eyes.

He is described as having a southern accent and a black tattoo on the right side of his neck.

Police say man who knocked between 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. was wearing black COVID mask, a black hooded top and black jogging bottoms with white stripes.

He also wore green sneakers with a gray trim near the sole and black laces, and brown / green camouflage gloves with pom-pom handles on the palms.

Superintendent Mark Kenny of Greater Manchester Police said: “The girl is receiving treatment from specialist officers while we investigate this terrifying attack. Our hearts are with her and her family.

“She showed tremendous bravery in telling a very detailed description of the offender and we hope someone can recognize the person described.

“This attack took place during the day and there are many houses and businesses along the roads leading to Westleigh Park and the fields.

“We ask the inhabitants of these areas and the surrounding areas to consult the CCTV or dashcam images they have. You may have captured the offender on camera and be able to give us some valuable insight into his direction of travel.

“I want to reassure the community that we have a number of agents working on this case. In addition, we have additional patrols in the incident area.

“We are committed to finding the person responsible for this appalling crime and locals may notice a continued police presence while further investigations are underway …”
