Nameberry has revealed the most popular baby names that expectant parents plan to name their toddlers.
The list is based on data from the website, which shows which parents of monikers are most interested right now, not what they actually named their babies.
The data helps give an indication of what the big baby name trends will be for the coming year, revealing which names are the hottest choices right now.
Nameberry receives traffic from over 200 countries and territories around the world, indicating which names are most popular in different parts of the world.
The site has selected 25 of its top 50 countries based on visitor numbers to reveal the top five names of girls and boys to date in 2021.
The analysis found that Jayden is the most popular boy’s first name among visitors from the three African countries on the list, including Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa, while in countries with large Muslim populations, like Pakistan, United Arab Emirates and Nigeria, Zara is a top choice for girls.
Luna and Arlo are proving popular in the English speaking world and much of Europe, with Latin names like Aurora and Atticus.
The names of the old boys, such as Atlas, Rufus and Severus, also seem to be becoming popular in Nordic countries like Finland and Sweden.
Boy names that end with the letter ‘O’ also continue to be a big trend internationally, with names like Hugo, Leo, Milo, and Santiago being successful in many countries. .
Nameberry revealed that the general trends for baby names this year point to tall and elaborate nicknames for girls, such as Ophelia and Pesephone, while neutral names beginning with ‘R’ are also proving to be popular, notably Remy, River and Rhys.
What names are popular in the UK?
Surprisingly, the names Olivia and Oliver weren’t among the biggest names in the UK, despite being true favorites.
Olivia was previously the name of the best little girl in the UK for the past two years, but failed to make the top five.
For boys, names beginning with the letter “A” were among the top picks, making up three of the top five.
