New coronavirus death confirmed in Somerset Bath City News

There have been 22 more cases of the coronavirus recorded in Somerset in the past 24 hours – while another person diagnosed with the virus has died.

The death was reported to Mendip, bringing his total since the start of the pandemic to 163.

Among the new confirmed Covid cases in the county, there were eight in Sedgemoor, six in North Somerset, four each in Somerset West and Taunton and South Somerset.

No further cases have been recorded in Bath and North East Somerset and Mendip.

The government said seven more people died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid on Friday, bringing the UK total to 127,524.

Separate figures released by UK statistical agencies show that there have been 152,000 recorded deaths in the UK where Covid was mentioned on the death certificate.

The government also said as of 9 a.m. on Saturday there had been 1,907 other laboratory-confirmed cases in the UK.

This brings the total to 4,418,530.

How many people have received the vaccine?

Government data up to April 29 shows that of the 49,287,257 jabs administered in the UK so far, 34,346,273 were first doses – an increase of 129,657 the day before.

Some 14,940,984 were second doses, an increase of 405,456.
