Four children aged 13 to 16 were arrested on suspicion of the man’s murder. The victim, who was in his thirties, died at the scene ofdespite the best efforts of the paramedics on Sunday night.
Police cordoned off part of an estate in Laindon, Essex, as they investigated the murder.
Detective Superintendent Steve Jennings told Essex Live: “Our investigations led us to believe the victim was going to the rescue of another man and as a result he lost his life in an altercation that ensued. with a group of young people not directly. known to him.

“If anyone knows anything about this murder and hasn’t come forward to talk to us yet, please do so. A family has been broken up and we have to get to the bottom of what happened. “
The five young people remain in detention while investigations continue.
A post mortem examination of the victim will be carried out today.
An Essex Police spokesperson said: ‘Overnight we made another arrest. A total of five teenagers were arrested for murder. All are still in detention.
“Our detectives worked tirelessly and through the night to establish what happened in the moments leading up to the murder and the attack itself.”
