Nine year old friends have fun while fundraising UK News

Two nine-year-old friends kept busy during the lockdown by challenging each other to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Buddies Ethan Ross from Totteridge and Joseph Morley from Friern Barnet have so far raised over £ 1,000.

The two, who have been best friends since their mothers met in a group of babies, decided to individually check in doing hour-long activities before pasting them to their YouTube channel.

Their activities ranged from exercising and coloring to reading and climbing stairs.

They were keen to add a fundraising element to their challenge so decided to set a goal of £ 1000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Ethan’s mother, Hannah, said, “We are incredibly proud of the boys’ incredible fundraising achievement for a charity close to our hearts because we have too many friends and members of the community. family who had to fight cancer.

“It’s an incredible amount to be raised by two young boys and even more special because they did everything themselves.

Joseph’s mother Nicola added, “They loved making the videos and seeing the donations piling up week after week and bringing them closer to their target.

“They’re both now back with their friends at school and happy to be back to normal as the lockdown gets easier, but I’m sure they’ll continue to fundraise together with other challenges in mind.” and fun events during the summer.

“They’ve been bitten by the fundraising bug and are delighted with everyone’s support and positive response.”

Macmillan’s fundraising director Victoria Want supported the boys in their challenge.

She said: “Ethan and Joseph are among the youngest supporters to raise money for Macmillan during the pandemic and every week we were excited to see what activity they were going to do next.

“What a great example of how to turn the negative experience of foreclosure into something empowering and worthwhile!”
